From Vision to Action

Have you ever thought “why I am having difficulties taking action to accomplish my goals”? This is a question that many have experienced and has caused some to give up. If I am talking to you, continue to read about how you can move from Vision to Action.

In order to accomplish your goals, you have to be willing to confront yourself. One of the biggest things that can get in the way is YOU. In order to move forward, you have to ask yourself if you are willing to confront your challenges or continue to allow it to be your obstacle.

•In order to lose weight, you have to be willing to confront your eating habits.

•In order to save money, you have to be willing to change your relationship with money.

•In order to become an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to confront your fear of success.

•In order to have a healthy relationship, you have to be willing to confront your need to please others and not speak your truth.

• In order to get a promotion, you have to be willing to confront your feelings of complacency and get out of your comfort zone.

•In order to network and connect with others, you have to be willing to confront your fears of being rejected.

•In order to write a book, you have to be willing to confront procrastination.

In order to accomplish your goals, you have to Move from the Vision to Action.

Join Dea Rabon Montgomery and Natolie Gray Warren as we coach you on how to confront your challenges and move from Vision to Action.

Making Your Dreams A Reality

NetWeaving for Success!

“Our actions are like ships which we may watch set out to sea, and not know when or with what cargo they will return to port.”
― Iris Murdoch, The Bell
Paying it Forward may seem like an odd concept to build a whole form of networking around, especially in this age of all too many people focusing only on “what’s in it for me”.  But, what if you could participate in a meeting that lets you plant seeds, nurture relationships and gain on-going support not only with the direct contacts you meet but possibly all of the contacts they meet and know for years to come?  Sound interesting?
Think about a time when you stopped focusing on being “in it to win it” and instead focused on building relationships where everyone’s needs are met and you’re thinking of NetWeaving.  Ask yourself, is it my immediate ability to use a networking contact that brings my greatest growth over the long haul or is it my ability to establish lasting mutually supportive relationships?  Often, it is the relationships that were established out an act of kindness, sharing simple helpful information or bridging a bond over a joint problem that have led to ones greater satisfaction, success and long-term connections.  So, if you’re tired of just “working the room” and ready to try a new way to meet, greet and mingle to build lasting, supportive and mutually beneficial relationships simply by Paying it Forward then don’t miss joining us this Friday, 11/13/15 at 7:00pm for NetWeaving for Success!

Netweaving Works!

I enjoy talking to people which is one of the reasons I chose my profession. However, I often struggle with marketing myself and my business. About a year ago I was introduced to a concept called Netweaving by Robert Littell that has changed my perspective of networking and marketing. This approach allows me to feel comfortable and helpful.
In order to be a good netweaver, you have to be a good listener. Your main role is to listen and think of how you can help. Therefore “Netweaving” can be seen as you focusing on others and responding to their needs and interests. Substantially, as you are paying it forward you will get the same in return. Remember people generally develop a natural interest in those who consistently show interest in them.

Come and join W.O.M.E.N. @ Netweaving Works! On Friday, November 13th from 7-9 pm.

When Did I Get Lost in the Shuffle?

As women, we can often have many roles and responsibilities that require our attention and focus. With all of these things, we can frequently not focus on ourselves and our needs.  I have noticed the importance of staying connected to our true selves especially since I have taken on roles of a wife and mother. Below you will read my experience with staying connected to myself so I don’ t get lost in the shuffle.

On this morning, I am the only one awake so I began to think about my life over the past four years. Let’s go on that journey together. In the early spring of 2010, I met my husband. From that period of time, my life has been in fast forward in a good way. A year later, we got married. On the first day of February 2013, our son was born. From there, I was learning to balance being a woman, wife, mother and entrepreneur. In May of 2014, we announced our second pregnancy and later learned we would have a baby girl. In the midst of all of the exciting and wonderful things, I have realized how I have changed and how I have felt like I have lost so much of the person I was prior to 2010. I have even looked in the mirror and asked myself “who is this woman”. I became determined to embrace the woman I was evolving into and hold to parts of the woman I already was. If you can see yourself in this post, the following tips will help you connect with yourself and not feel lost in the shuffle.

1. Find those things that you want to hold on you and fight to keep them. One of those items for me is my purse. A friend of mine had a son and she said that her diaper bag has now become her purse. I quickly disagreed and as much work as it had been to carry a diaper bag and a purse I have done it. I felt the purse defined me as the woman I love. Now I don’t change out my purses to match my outfits daily as before but I have it daily as a reminder.
2. Do those extra things when able to make you feel like you use to. I will take those extra minutes to put on my makeup, “put on some clothes” and heels on Sundays.
3. Be consciously aware of those moments that you don’t feel connect or like you want to feel.
4. Take out time for yourself frequently.
5. Listen to the opinions of others. One day I showed up for a meeting at work and a colleague brought it to my attention how much motherhood has changed my dress and appearance. I had gone from a well groomed, loved to dress, girl to a wear whatever is the most comfortable girl. It was an eye opening experience for me as I realized this is not what I wanted to become. That week I made small changes and I felt like I was back. I walked in the next week and stated “she’s back”.

You have to find what works best for you and do that. We are ever changing and evolving as women but for me it is very important that I stay connected to myself and not get lost in the shuffle of the roles and responsibilities of being a wife and mother.

Have you fallen into the trap of the Superwoman Syndrome?

Are you caught up in the false illusion of “having it all”? Do you constantly attempt to juggle several fulltime roles? Are you always putting off taking time for yourself? Has feeling overwhelmed become a familiar way of life? Do you feel so distracted or exhausted from taking care of others that when you do have time to focus on yourself you are unproductive? If some of this sounds like you then you may be caught up in the trap of “the Superwoman Syndrome”.

So, when did Superwoman stop being a fictitious cartoon character and instead become how real women are viewed? Recently, a friend sent a cartoon with a child beaming up at a woman and in the background were characters depicting a maid, taxi driver, priest, chef, nurse, teacher and psychic with the caption, “Mom, we’ve hired a few people to fill-in for you while you relax on Mother’s Day”. The funny thing is that as women we can all totally relate and even think of a few more people needed to assist for the day (i.e. a beautician, decorator, event planner and a personal assistant for every other person in the family). Even those of us who aren’t mother’s or wife’s can relate to this all too realistic bit of humor about what may have become the societal expectation of being a woman “having it all” leading us unwittingly into … “the Superwoman Syndrome”.

Are you ready to break free, find your own limits, set realistic boundaries, remember the importance of taking time for yourself first and turn in your cape?

Then, join W.O.M.E.N. this Saturday, May 16, 2015 for our group coaching session, “Am I suppose to want to be “Superwoman” or just a Super Woman

Take Action!

So often we have goals and dreams that we want to accomplish. They first start as just fleeting thoughts that we began to entertain and eventually believe. We sometimes get excited, start to anticipate how things will work out and may start sharing with others. However, we frequently set out on accomplishing that goal or dream without a plan. Developing an action plan is vital to be successful with reaching our goals. Effective action plans assist us set timelines, allocate resources, identify and address possible barriers and develop methods to monitor progress. Ultimately, action plans set us up for more success.

Are you ready to put your vision into action? Then join the Women On the Move Empowerment Network (W.O.M.E.N.) and the LONA Gallery for The Vision to Action Party!! and The LONA Gallery Women’s Wine Down!!! Together we will be supported, motivated, inspired, and EMPOWERED

“A goal without a plan is just a wish” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Stop coasting, release the brakes.

Have you ever considerate how often you play it safe when launching a new goal or idea? We often struggle with the fear of the unknown or uncertainty and limit the opportunities we take. Well experiencing some fear or anxiety before launching a goal or idea is normal. However, it does not have to determine your level or success or the risk you take. You can experience the fear/anxiety and do it anyway.

Is it possible that the fear/anxiety could be an indicator that you are going in the right direction ? Often some fear/anxiety is a good motivator, shows a growth opportunity or helps us to see just how strong we really are. So the next time this happens, look for the reasons why you are experiencing the fear/anxiety and do it anyway! Stop coasting, release the brakes, launch your goals!

Are your STRENGTHS sometimes a double edge sword where they are also a weakness?

What are your strengths? Consider the areas where your most confident and feel you do best.  This may include your skills for organizing, public speaking, immediacy, being social and taking charge.  These talents likely have helped propel you forward and achieve many of your goals.  But, is it possible that some of our strengths may also be part of a double edge sword that cuts both ways and actually leads to some of your weaknesses?  Do you ever take charge of a situation without remembering to assess and appreciate the value of input from others?  Are you great at initiating conversations with other professionals but sometimes have difficulty translating socializing into actual networking contacts?  Can you become so organized that you spend more time getting prepared to the point that you never actually start doing?    Sometimes we get so comfortable and caught up in what we do well that we forget that those same strengths can get in the way and actually lead to some of our weaknesses.

Join W.O.M.E.N. at our next empowerment meeting as we help you assess, develop and capitalize on your strengths while recognizing the need to shield against where your strengths alone may be keeping you from moving towards your own personal life success.
